I'm not really sure where to begin with this post but it needs writing so here goes..

We lost Pumpkin on Saturday 6th April at 9.55pm to old age, she had been unwell (more than usual) for a month since Beany passed to the Rainbow Bridge in March but kept having good days and bad days... though the bad days were beginning to take over....
Friday night she hadn't wanted to eat very much but had (for her) eaten quite a large amount at the dinnertime feed session so we thought "perhaps let her have tonight off" as it's not nice to keep being forced food when you're feeling sick (in general terms I mean) and just spent the Friday evening session hugging her, listening to music and usual stuff in the cat cabin while Chewie and Eggy ate their foods and pottered about...

Saturday morning Pum didn't look too good, she was distant and fidgety only wanting to curl up and hide from me while Johnny held her.. I had a sinking feeling that she was giving up so I let her just snuggle and we both kept talking to her, although looking back now we both that one session chose to wear blue nitrile gloves to hold her where despite any "gunkies" previously - we'd not bothered? I guess we both subconciously knew something that we were too caught up in current events to realise at the time?
Anyway late afternoon we said it was best to put her in her house as she was getting wobbly (shooting glances at eachother without either of us wanting to say anything pointedly) but it soon became apparent that she was more agitated than we'd first thought and immediately tried to walk out of the house again (oblivious to the fact her door was closed) and trampling in and out of the litterbox, bed, walking through the water bowl etc...
We managed to calm her enough to make her at least lay down, unfortunately the only place she felt comfy and safe was the litter box (although it was not exactly "used" so that's something I guess).... she fell asleep on and off while we were still in the cabin tidying things, sorting food supplies and tending to other things that Chewie and Eggy needed.....
Later in the evening I said I wanted to go out there earlier than usual in case she wanted to have a longer hug. We ended up in the cabin by I believe 7pm? I could be wrong.. It's written in the scattered notes but I'm not reading them right now...
As soon as we got out there we both just "paused" and held our breath as Johnny lifted the house covers (both houses) and as I began to put the microwave heat pads in one at a time to heat I misheard John (quite from the other end of the cabin by Pum) say ... or so I thought "She's gone"....... I honestly froze and nearly dropped / threw things across the floor as I tried to get past the sofa...

Thankfully I had misheard him but not by much. I urged him to swap plaes with me and go finish the heat pads and keeping busy with Chewie up the other end of the cabin.. Meanwhile I dragged the pink chair closer to the house and rested my hand under Pums head. For over an hour I stayed by her side, trying my hardest to keep my thoughts calm and light so that she wouldn't panic. There are better acounts of this across various diaries and on our facebook pages/profiles but I've not yet summoned up the courage to compile everything properly yet. At around 10pm she passed away.

Sorry for the randomly written out sections of these posts but I'm finding it hard to condense everything into coherent sentencing when there's just SO MUCH going on that nobody other than myself and Johnny ever sees.

Pumpkin stopped eating on 5th March 2019, we first thought it was her usual "she'll eat a little later" so shared her food between Chewie & Eggy. Then later that day she still wouldn't eat, so I made Johnny reach in to the big house and extracto-pandito...... much to her harumphing and scrabbles to stay in her bed...

She begrudgingly ate a large pile of Felix Crispies and I was every so thankful that she was at least eating SOMETHING. She suddenly developed a duck quacking noise in her throat a day or two afterwards while still each day fighting to get her to eat SOMETHING, Anything! and we feared that perhaps her throat had something stuck in it, a stray crunch off of a Crispy perhaps.. Pum has NEVER been a "touch my mouth"er aside from loving her chinny and gummywobbles tickled so fighting to hold her head, open her mouth AND check her throat while Johnny struggled to hold her still as she wiggled and squirmed to get free.. wasn't fun!

Skip ahead a few days to the 13th as she'd been refusing to drink while we were out there for almost a week. Not once seeing her drink, trying all kinds of tactics to get fluids into her... she still wouldn't eat... not even "lickies" off of the blunt knife we use for mixing wet foods with pills....and was literally surviving only on Felix Crispies, YET she was still here? How?

  • The cruel irony was that even as Beany felt sniffly and unwell the night before he died (we didn't know it was anything other than his normal little allergies at the time, nothing was different) he was still eager to try to eat and drink water slowly out of a shallow bowl on the sofa for us because he knew he should try when Mummy said "it will help you feel better"... and .. **Pauses as tears flow**.. he was gone the next morning....within four hours from the last feed.

But here we were watching and Pumpkin somehow defied everything and was still with us when she seemingly hadn't eaten or drank in many more days than it would take a cats immune system to completely shut down, liver problems to occur etc. It just didn't make sense.
We NEVER would wish one took the place of another, that is NOT what I am saying, but it kicked us both so hard in the depths of our hearts and "feels" that we lost one so suddenly and without warning, when another was being so "See if I care, I won't eat. I don't want to go on" attitudinal. It quickly reached the point where Johnny winced every time we had to grab her from her bed to try and make her eat.

Finally around three days ago I said we HAVE to try putting her separate from the others, may she would eat when we aren't out there (and obviously leaving food in the big house, the others would eat it!). So we set up Eggys little house as a single floored flat for Pum to curl up in, using the base board of our dismantled cat scratcher tree as a raised floor for her bed to go on while also blocking off the ladder hole (a steeper ladder than she is used to in the other house, and for a wobbly legged panda-cat, not a good idea to mount and dismount that right now) we set up the litter box, grey bed - complete with heat pad obviously, a water bowl, wet food and dries just in case she fancied once and not the other overnight... and inserted the panda. For someone who had been sad down most of the last week she was quick to start pacing up and down staring around for a way out... I feared I'd made the wrong decision but knew I HAD to do something drastic while not wanting to hurt her / scare her obviously.

As much as it hurt me to see her look abandoned and scared to start with, she quickly settled in to her grey bed and we said goodnight and came in to get on with many many orders from FurwebsMarket...
The next morning we were a bit late going back out to them as it had been severely windy and we had had things we needed to run around checking first.

When we got in there my heart suddenly skipped a beat when I put the key in the door, struggled to NOT say "morning babies, morning Beany, Pum, Egg, Chew"....and realised that I couldn't hear the Duck Quack of pums sniffly breathing... "Oh god no, has she gone too? I should have come out sooner, was it because I made her go it alone?" all raced through my mind a million what ifs and maybes a second.... then I realised I could just about hear her, she must have been asleep but woke when she heard the door unlock.

She ended up having not eaten over night, wanting to desperately go in the big house, her house and as soon as she was in there drank and drank (not excessive, just not tiny slurp and walk off type things..) Johnny interjected that perhaps as she couldn't drink overnight she wanted it from her own bowl in the morning. She did have water etc in with her but she maybe just didn't "know" it was hers? Anyway it was a good sign. She drank...

Later that morning / afternoon (it's switched back to being longer out there ironically now often taking 2-3 hours each feed session) I had the idea of spoon feeding her wets again, she wasn't impressed but kept licking little bits off her top lip as i spooned it towards her.

The past two weeks since losing Beany we have had ups and downs a plenty...

It started off with Johnny and I being a little wobbly on our feet not knowing what to do with ourselves as we'd had SO MUCH to do each day with Beany, it was almost as if, with him gone our lives were literally 80% empty.
We knew we had the other cats to look after, feed, clean etc - and we were!
It just didn't SIT right that we were aimlessly waiting, waiting... waiting...

Don't get me wrong, neither of us wanted something terrible to happen to any of the others just to prove our being out there in the cat cabin for prolonged periods of time with them but it was like someone had reached into our lives and scooped out the daytime only leaving the gap times... the times we WEREN'T supposed to have been out in the cat cabin with them.

We joked that we felt uneasy that we had no nappy pads to clean up, no comforting to do when it was windy, there was a loud noise suddenly (neighbours mostly!) or those teeny tiny things that completely slip your mind that you've even done them repeatedly day in day out when you're doing them but quickly miss SO MUCH once their necessity for them has vanished.

It's always been a given that Pumpkin and Chewie aren't heavy meat/wet food fans..... they prefer dry biscuits, treats occasionally and a wet packed shared between them every once in a while. But suddenly with Beany gone they were all three acting oddly over-calmed and each trying to fill in bits that he would have done himself... It was very odd.
Imagine a children's drama club where one of the classmates leaves and the others are all jostling to fill the role/scenes played by the missing classmate.

Chewie developed a BIG hunger for wet foods but with her sensitive stomach I had to be "the mean Mummy" and keep restricting her intake. She has always had a male cat with her since she arrived in 2008. Puppycat (Socky) was here obviously when she came, as was Beary - the big bouffon beasty ;-)... but then when Socky passed over, Wolfie came with Pumpkin and the strength in Chewie continued as she was reassured by the male pressence... Of course then while Wolfie was here, we adopted Beany and Eggy thus adding more males* and after a teensy reposition of who'se who when Wolfie Died we were all settled with Beany being the man of the cabin... That has sharply ended and we are now seeing Chewie's previous anger and anxiety resurface. She knows she shouldn't hiss, spit, scream and waggle her claws out at anyone but it is as if her brain has reverted to the yearling she was when she arrived - unsocialised and spitty - while her memories of the past 11 years has stayed with her and she is fighting with herself to not hit out because she's lonely and afraid.
Imagine a huge migraine and the worst case of anxiety you can imagine coupled with deafening loud winds of the recent fortnight making you jumpy while you are jumping at your own shadow thinking you just saw a ghost walking up the house ladder behind you....

*(Eggy was / is a male cat.... according to her flimsy piece of card "vet record book" - but has always growled, hissed and bitten when refering to her as such.... yet call her a Girl/ Princess and she will melt.... Her choice - we are happy if she is happy!)

Eggy, after two years of being "good girl" started using nappy pads again instead of litter boxes but we didn't tell her off or anything mean because it was "finding her feet" time and she chose to MOVE IN to the big house with Pum and Chewie where she was unfamiliar with their litter boxes.. She stayed there for TWO WEEKS until yesterday (March 17th) when I said it was probably for the best if she went back home into her little house again (right beside them, as it always has been) but to not only give her time to recover from the loss, but also time for everything else to adjust.

Pum was being peculiarly outgoing and clambering over things where she would normally do her utmost to completely stay away from them (microwave unit!) but suddenly at almost a week after Beany had been gone Pum stopped eating quite so eagerly, then just stopped all together. Stopped eating, stopped coming out and exploring... it was as if she had realised finally that he was gone and she just chose to shut down. Her heart couldn't take the loss (literally of metaphorically) of yet another family member... She'd already lost two+ before coming to us including her mother, then their previous owner had died which resulted in us adopting them.... and the loss of Daddy-Dog (Wolfie) took so so long to sink in and she clung to Beany... Losing him, and so suddenly - shook her and her immune system just plummeted. Read the next post for more news.

As some of you may be aware - we made a note this year to not book in to quite as many "mish mash" events that just pop up and instead pick and choose the best from our invitations. To that note, we actually have so far this year only enquired about one event that we hadn't already been invited to - which to me is amazing, as it means we are getting more widely recognised and sought out to attend events rather than hunting for them ourselves.

Anyway we so far this year have agreed to attend a weekly market at Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary throughout February, as previously we have only attended their Craft Market but recently found out that they hold two other types - Flea Market & Collectors Fair plus an "indoor Carboot" of sorts via their Table Top Sales.
This seemed a great step for us as not only will it help to benefit the Donkey Sanctuary - ergo helping the donkeys. But it will also help us clear out donated goods given to us for The Craft-E-Kittens which often piles up in the storage and we have no other choice than to list clearance batches on eBay (which, believe me - we have horrid "kick to the tummy" feelings about as we know that given more time and other means to sell there are much more funds to be raised from these goods than a few pound for the pile on eBay!).
We have also been generously invited to a number of large scale events for various charities again this year - Hospitals, Community Shows, Village Fetes, Hotels, Scarecrow Festivals - you name it!

We once again are to-ing and fro-ing when it comes to tradeshows though as we just arent sure it's "us", and unsure whether it would help or hinder the work we do.

There are lots of new developments happening this year with regard to our online stores, services, products and fundraising but more will be explained as soon as possible.

Must dash! It's feeding time at the mogetorium ;-)

Well, it's been quite some time since this website has had an actual "full on" update with diaries, photographs, videos etc of the cats.

I am shocked that it is now 2016 and I have only just realised that we do not even have actual pages listed yet for Beany and Eggy.
These and many other things will be coming to the website in a matter of hours, days etc.

Bear in mind that the updates are happening in my "free time" in and around other works and caring for the cats (to be honest, right now this is being written on my work computer, whilst also editing an online "flip book" of the cats (something I made when we had our Blunsdon store, and sent a copy to my mother in law but never made it public) - Whilst using my middle pc to list, edit and upload images for hundreds of books on the New To You Books section of Retro Castle!
I undoubtedly will not get very much added in just one night as I have to make up numerous batches of Soy Wax Candles & Melts tonight after the bedtime feed session which is in less than 20 mins so for now to summarise as follows :

Images, Videos, Daily Diaries (spanning back to Pre 2009 when the cabin was just being built!) and facts about the cats (past and present) will be added over the course of the next few nights / days etc.

This page was written some time in 2013 but contains information that is still relevant so I have not deleted it or edited its content.

The Craft-E-Kittens : Special Cats with Special Needs...

Well its pretty self explainatary in a way.
The cats each have special needs , medical requirements and if left to fend for themselves would not survive.
We are their carers and family.

We fundraise through various online storefronts , websites and at local trade shows , craft fairs , markets and events. The funds raised go towards covering costs of Cat Litter , Medicines , Cleaning Supplies , Food , Toys , Heaters , Towels , Beds etc etc for the cats. As well as this we make a wide variety of crafted items "In our spare time" , also to try and sell to raise funds.

How things "Work" differs and depends on which cats we have with us.

Now that beary and socky have passed - things are different in the sense we no longer have to worry about objects that are higher than knee height , as they both had bad legs.
Or which items are within reach for Chewie to try to eat when she shouldnt ,  So for instance with the arrival of the new cats last december , we raised funds towards buying a new climbing frame / activity tree.
This year chewie is having bad balance issues but likes to still climb , so we will fundraise towards building a safer climbing arena for her.

Pumpkin needs to be kept warm with her heart condition and loves to hop straight back to her bed once she has had a quick run around and feed.
So we have invested in new beds and will continue to buy new towels etc as required for bedding.

Wolfie although being very sneezy has little requirements other than food (he thinks he "MUST" have any food he sees and hears being moved) but aside from this his only requirement is to sit on our tummy for a hug and nest down on us - so we will be trying to fundraise towards getting additional seating for the coming months in the cabin as the one mini futon sofa isnt really large enough for us all to fit!

As you can hopefully see , they are not"Just Cats" , and things are far from "simple" in the cat cabin or regarding the furbabies in our lives.  Please keep reading throughout the pages of the site for more information

**The section below was previously used as the websites Home page but as the content is also still relevant we have decided to move it here instead of deleting it entirely.**

Greetings from The Craft-E-Kittens, and their carer Kitty.
We are currently caring for the Sixth generation of TCEK.

As long as the Cat Cabin has been here, there have been special needs cats living within.
The first were Sox, Beary & Chewie as pictured above.
However, before the cabin they shared The Den [A large 13ft x 7.5ft x 10ft outdoor enclosure].

With each new member of our adopted family, the "rules" for life in the cabin change.
When the cabin first came about - it was pretty simple. Follow any routine already in place with Socky. Keep curtains closed, no entering the cabin with foods / drinks "un-socky-safe" ,no entry without washing your hands or changing your clothes, always wear gloves when cleaning up.... etc etc. As time goes by we have clearly had to change these rules to coincide with other illnesses and issues.

Of course, some rules never change - no matter who lives in the cabin!
Such as my golden rule - "Always keep the gate closed!"
Going in or coming out, never have both doors open at once unless the cats are secure in their house while we are moving furniture or doing maintanence.

Stitch came to us with Eddy on 12th July 2014

They both came from the same home, but due to the family recently having a baby they had to give up the cats as the baby developed an allergy to them.

Beany has Brown, black and tan mid length fur with highlights.
He is FIV positive. He shows no obvious signs of illness from this so far.

(update feb 2015) he has started to occassionally sneeze when washing - unsure if this is related to immune disorder.

It is estimated that Beany is between 3 and 4 years old

He likes to sleep on his blue stool, on his paddle blanky on the sofa or on top of mumma (Me!).

He rarely has hugs with the other cats at playtimes but does occassionally like licky washes with Wolfie and Chewie.
Beany has made many attempts to try it on pum, or to mistake her mad dash from house to cat scratch tree - as a sign of "ooh chase play play time" then realised too late that this may result in being playfought by her and retreats swiftly (dont blame him!). Generally he seems to get along well with the others, but for coming from a home with Eddy - they dont seem particularly bonded.

His favourite foods are Felix As Good As It Looks, especially Trout and Courgette or Chicken and Tomato. Also adores Vitacat and Gourmet Gold!

He doesnt have a favourite toy but does enjoy playing with home made toys such as Meesers etc.

Eddy came to us with Stitch on 12th July 2014

They both came from the same home, but due to the family recently having a baby they had to give up the cats as the baby developed an allergy to them.

Eddy has long black fur with grey highlights, he has problematic eyes due to having inverted eyelids and also is FIV positive.

It is estimated that Eddy is between 2 and 3 years old

He likes to sleep on top of the cat tree at play times, licky washes Wolfie and Chewie but isnt brave enough to attempt it on pum (dont blame him!) and seems to get along mostly well with Stitch but they dont seem particularly bonded.

His favourite foods are Felix As Good As It Looks and Whiskas Dry Kibbles

He doesnt have a favourite toy but does enjoy playing with home made toys such as boys and string etc.

His favourite hidey hole : Sitting in the cupboard ontop of Turtey my old Turtle footrest!

Gets upset if : you dont say good morning / afternoon/night depending on the time you go in - as soon as you get in - and if you forget to give him  headbumps and tickles!

Age : 7 or 8? [she was a friends cat , who sadly passed away so we arent sure how old Chewie is]

Arrival: June 10th 2008 How she got here: She was collected from Reading at my sister in laws house - She originally came from a close friend in Wolverhampton area.

Why she is with us: She was suffering from feline alopecia , being very sick with horrid things being brought up - and as said above , her previous owner has now passed :(

Medical Issues: Vestibular Disorder , Alopecia and Digestional Disorder , Renal disorder and Feline Eczema

Day to day attitude: She seems very excitable , bouncy and "over the top" but this is mostly due to her Balance and Hearing issues , she can get quite angry for no apparent reason but you have to learn to read the signs of her body language to know that this is because a seemingly innocent BANG of a door can cause her to think she is being attacked and fall over. Scratches and gouges a plenty on my part from saving her as she is about to topple off a unit or cat tree!

Abilities: VERY flexible , bendy , bouncy and loves to play PING PONG / Table Tennis with her bouncy ball. She is very smart behind the confused and sometimes "dopey looking" outer shell. She is also able to make audible human sounding words and sentences Special Needs: She needs constant observation , special hair loss oil , Renal medication and specialist shampoo / soother solution for her skin as it dries out.

Coat description: mid to long length black "hairy beasty" fur. Managable with hardly any brushin although she has a fondness for holding the brushe herself to brush her chin!

Breed Detail: Maine Coone , Rex Cross

Age : She was 17+ when she passed…
Arrival: June 5th 2006

How she got here: We had recently lost Tigger-Lou , but by chance saw an advert posted up on the board in Pets At Home – We collected her that day!  [stray wandering around Swindon's gardens!]

Why she is with us: She had been straying in a residents garden in Swindon – they had found her sleeping in the bottom of their plastic zip up “greenhouse” and would of kept her except for their small kitten did NOT want a competitor for Human time!

Medical Issues: She had apparent eye trauma when we received her , along with leg damage (not visable but she could barely walk or jump).  She was later diagnosed with Rhinotracheitis and along the way other things became apparent. Calicivirus was only finally diagnosed (although we had been prompting this for many years) the day before she was PTS. The vets unfairly blamed us for her lack of care (how little did they know). She also suffered with Renal Failure , Was allergic to most foods and was suseptible to heat problems (liked to sit in a big tub of water to cool off – really!)

Day to day attitude: She was sometimes shy and “back away” ish depending on how gunked up her eyes were and her sneezing. We felt bad for her as it was clear she was under the impression she would be punished for getting us gunked up if she sneezed on us – REALLY BOU!? I developed a saying or few along the route with beary – my favourite being “Im the kind of Mamma who wears her best clothes out to see to the cats – Do i really look like i care about a little Cat Snot and Eye Boogers?!”
Aside from that – she was always looking for affection , “If you sit – Bou will come” ….and give you a dead leg / arm! she liked to lick your top and rub her ears against you as her way of showing affection towards us.

Abilities: She was very vocal and very smart – she could do things that surprised even us (including opening springlocked doors with one paw and picking the right coloured toy / shaped item if you played brain games with her)

Special Needs: She needed daily eye cleaning but didnt like that too much – also she had a fur issue as she was an unknown breed with very long matty fur . She would have a shampoo and brush down regularly. She required L-Lysine tablets every couple days with wet food to aid her Rhino-T.

Coat description: Brown tones , beige stripes , black and tan markings (stupidly designated as British Shorthair by the vets and “tabby with fawn markings”)

Breed Detail: Felis Chaus Hybrid as discovered by doing research into her heritage , markings , distinguishing features and characteristics (plus size etc) and help from people online with breed knowledge

Beary Passed on November 10th 2011 after being suddenly overcome with weakness , lethargy and refusing to eat for one day – she was withdrawn and couldnt even sit up let alone stand – due to the shock of its sudden happening we rushed her to the vets which we dont usually do (we have found better care in home remedies which give the cats a calmer and loving rest and recovery experience), we were unfairly judged by our local vet who wouldnt believe it was literally overnight her condition had come to this – they ridiculed our capabilities and methods, even to the point where they refused to allow her even to come home for her final hours when we were pressured into having her PTS – when we finally insisted we wanted her body back to bury her ourselves , we were met with horrid comments which as you can imagine are unthinkable at any time let alone when your daughter has just been PTS.  It has been almost 2 years since bear died – Sox went not long after her which breaks my heart in more ways than imaginable however they kept eachother fighting strong side by side for over 5 years – for this i am thankful . And am honoured to have shared my life with these beautiful inteligent furbabies. Everything i do from now til the end of my cat caring days , will be in memory of not only Sox and Beary but Tigger-lou , for whom the whole history of Craft-E-Kittens wouldnt of been possible without.

Age : Tigger was supposedly 8 or 9 when we got her – so going by this we estimate she would of been 10 when she died :(
Arrival: March 13th 2004

How she got here: She came with Sox  – from a friend who could only take two of their four cats to new housing.

Why she is with us: She came to us as said above – we only initially had them as companions for myself to get through awful times , we actually wernt meant to have two – only Sox but i insisted and mum caved! lol Later we found Tigger and Sox both had health issues (this was before The Craft-E-Kittens came about)

Medical Issues: Bladder problems , Cystitis , on thinking back and my current knowledge i would say she also had some form of nerve problem and renal problem (much like sox which wouldnt surprise me  as they were inseparable)

Day to day attitude: Tigger-Lou was a very nervous cat around anyone except myself , mum and grandad. She occasionally accepted “treats” from relatives (much to me annoyance as i disliked them being fed dairy etc)
She was vocal at night if left outside but would immediately curl on my bed for a snoozey hug once let in for the night. She loved hugs and being wrapped in a hooded baby blanket  calmed her if she got scared. She went missing for over a month not long after she got here – but we knew she couldnt be far away as socky kept going out back then and sitting near our back door “talking” to another cat (this ended up being tigger but we could never get there quick enough before she would run off ) eventually she came home after one day when i refused to come indoors until very late and she snuck up to me , sat at my feet and somehow magically bonded with me (!!) After this we were very close until a week before she died , she ran away out of the blue again feb 2006 , i was confused and wondered “why now” after everything was so good for a year , she had been to the vets on and off alot with bladder problems etc, and had been scared to be near sox from oct 2005 onwards as he “smelled different” after his car accident , but we had been so close and for her just to “leave”…. It turns out she had left to find a cosy spot in our adjoining gardens (uncles greenhouse) , we arent sure whether she knew she was passing and wanted to be alone – or the coincidental snow+wind storm that happened that week – but she was found hunkered down in a plant box just under a week after she disappered – 25ft from our back door! Frozen solid (sorry too much detail). Heartbreak …. doesnt describe it.

Abilities: She was a good bird hunter and loved to play with frogs! didnt play very much other than with a fish on a stick toy! Good at opening doors though.

Special Needs: She needed tablets for her bladder (UTI) but i cant recall the name. she also had to have weekly / bi weekly blood tests for something but sorry to say back then i was focused on things happening and not to make notes of it all.

Coat description: short brown , white and grey stripes like a tiger. Classed as “tabby” by the vets but was an almost mirror of Sox except she had the brown markings over her black coat (imagine spraying the final detail over a black undercoat)…

Breed Detail: Unsure – Sox was a Tuxedo British Shorthair , but what does that make her? tabby or other?

Age : Sox was roughly 16 when he passed , would of been 17 had he made it to march 2013
Arrival: March 13th 2004

How he got here: He was a friends cat along with his sister , “partner” and daughter. Unfortunately the owner was moving and could only take two of the four cats with her to the new home. The “partner” and daughter were chosen as they couldnt be separated and the mumma cat was poorly. Sox and Tigger came to live with us to get me through rough times. They were “given as in good health” and until a few months after we didnt even know there may be medical problems …

Why he is with us:  He was brought here by myself and mum (Kathy) “as pets” to cheer me up , accompany me to get me through awful stuff. This was years before The Craft-E-Kittens came about.

Medical Issues: Over the course of the 9 years (seems so much longer) in my life , socky had many injuries and illnesses, i have tried to write a list of those i can remember – Ripped Paw , Pad restructure , Was hit by a car and left to fend for himself on the back roads near our house (after he finally recovered i refused to let him outside “free roaming” again and he was too scared to on the one occasion he slipped outside – he just froze in fear) , Renal Failure , Rhinotracheitis , Irritable Bowel Disease ,  Feline Herpes Virus (FHV-1) , Broken Legs with metal pins , Blind in one eye ,  Very suseptible to cold / heat / dust etc

Day to day attitude: A bit snappy towards any one but me who tried to pick him up , very much disliked men (history) , very loving , loved having tickles and headbumps , would often hop onto the sofa next to us even before the cabin – and curl up for a snoozey hug. Would not tolerate anyone but me touching his lower back , back ankles , paw pads and especially belly! . This would result in being kicked, bitten or smacked with a paw. he wasnt agressive – he just feared more pain (wouldnt you with all those illnesses and hurts?)

Abilities: Even in his later years , he was very smart , he could open things and reach things on tippytoe that shouldnt be possibly. He could talk but due to his throat problems (forgot to write that above!) and operations ,he was barely audible to anyone but me (mamma’s can always tell their childrens cry in a crowded area and all that). He used to be a “good” rabbit and bird hunter in the fields out the back of the house , but often came home with lumps and bumps as if the wildlife were chasing him rather than vise versa.

Special Needs: This section is too much to write currently (its taken me months to have the strength to write this far , please bear with me…… :[ ...) the "hurts" are too much right now

Coat description: short slinky shiny black coat with "tuxedo" white markings and white "socks".

Breed Detail: British Shorthair Tuxedo [and darn proud of it!]

Synopsis :
In a sleepy backdrop of a wiltshire village named Scrivenham-down, there lived a group of friendly cats that came together through a meeting that would change their lives for good. A loving couple of humans one day decided to build a Swiss Chalet in their back garden, and to take in and adopt cats with special needs that otherwise would have a rough time and dire consequences when there owners could no longer look after them.

DAY 1 - The Great Outdoors

One day after being fed, Pumpkin noticed that the door to her house had not been properly fastened, and that with a slight nudge of her head it could be easily pushed open. Turning around to face Edward, she said " fancy some fun), edward looked at stitch and chewie and said why not, wooley said, dare we , we could get into a lot of trouble if we do. Pumpkin, being the adventurous one said, when are we going to get another chance like this to explore outside world again, to stalk birds and mice and to just simply laze in the sun. And with that they crept out the door trying not to be seen and scurried down the path past the onion patch, across the road and into a feild, which had been recently cultivated after the summer corn had been cut. Edward moved very carefully over the stubble complaining that it kept going between his paws, OH come on said pumpkin, just a little ways further and i can see a stream, perhaps we (if you like) go paddling and catch some of those fast siver things.ok said wooley im game, lets go.

twenty five minuites later, after scrambling through long grass and hedgerows, covered in those sticky sweethearts, which they knew they would have to get rid of befor getting home, they came across a finely cut grass area. they started to cross it, when, wooley spotted something in the corner of his eye,and ducked, and (thud) he crouched down and shook.looking around, he saw the object bounce a couple of time and roll towards a stick with a rag on top. Then edward saw some humans walking towards them,at the same time wooley had ran after the object, grabbed it  with both paws, saying, sorry every-one its not edible.
one of the humans shouted whats all these cats doing on the green, wooley heard him and quickly loooked across his shoulder to see the rest of the gang scampering away. hey wait for me he shouted and they all ran home through the same route, through the hedgerows and the stubble which edward tried to step between the stubble, then across the busy road without looking, into the garden past the onion patch and with tails in the air turning around the corner of the large shed and into the cabin, closing the door gently behind them. as they quickly cleaned off the sticky sweethearts, pumpkin smirked as she heard their owner come out of the house calling out WHO WANTS TEA , edward thought, yeh, we didnt get our fast silvery things. so heres to our next adventure. Hello
said there owner, the gates not shut. good kittens for not getting out, you must be hungry, little did she know what they could have had if they had gone fishing. oh well.;=======til the next adventure.
